To start, this site is a way for me to document and keep myself creatively accountable. Sounds like a job…not really. Almost the opposite. I want to be creative and happy each day.

Sounds corny.🌽. (I can’t eat corn)

I won’t use a lot of words. I’ll just post descriptions, and maybe how I feel about a piece of work.

I’ll post my work next. I figured I’d start with perfection..and go down from there. Ha ha!

This pic is God’s work. Coast of Puerto Rico. Gosh it’s pretty. We went last year and I want to go back. That WATER though.. Beautiful!

Shelby, 2016. Acrylic on canvas. 16×20″
Here’s Shel at her happiest- tennis ball in her mouth. She’s crazy about them and I’ve been wanting to paint a pic of her with one.

I did this one in a class and it was taught differently than I would have painted it. I color blocked it in with darker shades and then brushed (almost dry brushed) the white/blonde fur in for texture.

Thats it. I could still work on it- but going to let it be for now.

Prickly Pear Cactus

Prickly Pear Cactus. 2016

Acrylic on canvas. 12 x 16″.

I’m into succulents and cacti right now..  I wish I could have a Prickly Pear Margarita right now- a delicious taste of Texas with a twist of lime!

Brilliant Succulents

Brilliant Succulents. 2016. Acrylic on canvas. 16 x 20″.

I am really into succulents lately..they can be so vibrantly colored and I love their chunky leaves.

I also really respect them for not TOTALLY dying when they are forgotten about.

In memory of Jeremy.

In Memory of Jeremy. 2016. Mixed Media on Canvas.  11 x 14″
I was commissioned to create a piece to honor a Theater Arts professor at a University.  I used various quotes he used in class, and was inspired by different “theatrical production” fonts for the quotes. The edges were finished with treated fabric to convey stage curtains.

First painting of the summer.

Wildflowers. 2016. Acrylic on canvas. (11″x 14″)

My husband (Big J)took my son (J)to a state park one day early this summer and among many things, spotted this flower field. J was learning how to use the “Big” camera and took this shot.  I complimented him on his photography skills..he thanked me, then asked me to paint it! Ha!
